Reading a Seoul household bill for mining hours

Desktop miners often divide the monthly bill by thirty and call that the daily power cost. Under progressive household rates, the last kilowatt-hours of the month can sit in a higher bracket than the first. If your hashing happens to push you across a step, the mining hours are not priced at the average — they are priced at the margin.

What to pull from the bill

Find the tariff class, the monthly kWh total, and the unit prices for each bracket. Redact your account number before sharing with anyone. You only need the price ladder and your total consumption.

A simple desk method

1. Estimate non-mining baseline kWh from a week when the cards stayed off.
2. Add hashing-hour readings from a wall meter.
3. Place the added kWh on top of the baseline inside the bracket table.

That placement is what we use in Electricity Cost Audits. Average rates hide the damage; marginal rates reveal whether an extra night is still worth running.

Winter caveat

Heaters and hashing share circuits in small apartments. If your baseline jumps in January, re-run the placement before trusting a summer profitability sheet.
